Bhartiya Gramotthan Sanstha is a registered organization working since 27 years in the field of social and rural
development. Employment generation is the main objective of the organization.
For achieving its target the organization emphasizes on local raw material based employment. Apart from this, the other working areas of the organization is handicraft, handloom(wool, cotton, jute), jute carpet, giving commercial training to the women self help group (SHG) for income generation, helping SHG in marketing of their products, imparting technical knowledge, forestation, non formal education, environment related programme, cultivating medicinal plants, implementing various health programme based on Indian medical system with the participation of the mob is the major objective of the organization.

A highlight on various projects and programmes being run by the organization
COMMON FACILITY CENTRE (C.F.C)With the sponsorship from the Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, Bhartiya Gramotthan Sanstha established a Common Facility Centre in Rishikesh. The common facility centre has started functioning and is providing the facility of carding, spinning and finishing of raw wool and woolen fabrics, to the artisans of Uttrakhand. This scheme will help the weavers/artisans of Ambedkar Hast Shilp
JUTE SERVICE CENTREThis project is sponsored by National Jute Board, Kolkata, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India. The organization has been working in this area for more than 15 years. Previously the artisans used to make products with local fibers only whose market was very limited. By the efforts of the organization and Jute Service Centre, Rishikesh, jute fiber was introduced as a raw material in this area and the artisans and women
SHG FORMATION AND BANK LINKAGEThis project is sponsored by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). This programme is named as “Women Empowerment Programme” by the organization. The project aims at uniting and organizing the women through formation of Self Help Groups.
BUSINESS COUNSELING / MARKETING CENTREOne of the motives of the Organization is to provide marketing facility to the women entrepreneurs of Self Help Groups. The organization is running a jute retail outlet in its premises. This outlet is also working as a Business Counseling Centre where in the people are given awareness related to entrepreneurship
FREE TRAINING TO WOMEN’SThis is a self financed programme of the organization. The organization provides training to the women beneficiaries who are interested in making handicrafts. The beneficiaries who take the trainings are then placed in the organization wherein they are engaged in production of different handicrafts like jute bags, jute file folders, jute bottle bags, shopping bags, sweaters, pullovers, shawls, stoles etc.
AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUESThe organization every year organizes a rally on the World Environment Day for the awareness of the masses about the problems of the environment being faced in the recent years. A Campaign on cleaning the city is also organized with the help of the employees of the organization and the eminent.
