To provide trainings to the weavers, artisans and women beneficiaries so as to make them self-reliant.
The organization has organized the women of this area into self help groups (SHGs) and is providing them trainings so that they can turn in to entrepreneurs. BGS has credit linked many of its SHGs with different banks and provided loans to the women for self employment opportunities. At present approx. 3000 women beneficiaries are linked with the Sanstha through its SHGs who have been availing handicrafts and handloom trainings provided by the Sanstha.
The organization has provided trainings to the women beneficiaries in making handicraft products with the local raw material available in the villages. The local raw material includes bheemal and nettle fiber. These fibers are available abundantly in the forests and in the vicinity of the villages. The women have been taught to make slippers, curtains, footmats, tablemats etc out of these local and natural fibers.
The organization is also associated with National Jute Board, Kolkata. The NJB had provided jute based trainings to the women beneficiaries which include jute bags, shopping bags, file folders and other utility products. Many of these women beneficiaries have started their own unit in making jute bags. This has increased their source of income, which in turn has raised their economical condition.
Fair Trade Policy :
Many women beneficiaries who are unable to set up a unit in their homes come to the training cum production centers (TCPC) of BGS. They work here at piece rate/wages BGS is having a fair trade policy where in each beneficiary whether men or women, are given equal opportunity to raise their voice against an issue on which they have any query. A transparency is maintained in providing the piece rate/wages to the beneficiaries. The achievements/ shortcomings are also discussed with the beneficiaries. The relationship between the management and the beneficiaries are very cordial. There is a majority of women employee in BGS. They are free to discuss any matter with the governing body members whenever they feel so.
